Action Comet Workshop Summary
Action Comet 67/CG is a workshop during which the participants learn about the European Space Agency's Rosetta Mission to a comet called 67/P CG. During the workshop everyone learns about this comet by both drawing it and also making a comet model for themselves.

The Rosetta spacecraft is in orbit around the comet. On November 12th 2014 it will send a lander called Philae to the comet. This will be the first time ever that a probe from Earth will land on a comet. This is an historic mission, complimented by this unique workshop suitable for all ages.

Comments from young comet makers !!

On the 11th November 5th and 6th class went to Carlow IT where we learned all about comets.

5th and 6th class found the comets so fascinating we wished we could stay longer. Huzaifa.

I really enjoyed the comet course. My favourite part was when we made a model of the coma a part of the comet.  Mark.

I think that it was cool and the model comet was amazing.  Thank you for inviting us.  James.

I found the comet presentation very interesting, especially when Deirdre made a visual comet.
Deirdre had a lot of facts on the top of her head.
She didn't just have facts on the board she let us make a comet and draw a picture of a comet.  Alannah.

I particularly enjoyed the part where we learned about Rosette, Philae and about the comet Churyumor Gerasimienko.
The day was very fun and enjoyable.  Konrad.

I thought it was very cool and interesting.  I had no idea about it until Wednesday.
I enjoyed making a model comet.  Sinéad.

Christopher Ó D.: I thought Deirdre’s Rosetta workshop yesterday was really good and interesting. It was fun when we made the comets. The comet 67P/G-C looks really cool and it was cool learning about the gas and dust. It would be good if the lander got onto the comet. Your comet looked realistic. Thank you, Deirdre.

Evan: I thought Deirdre’s workshop yesterday was fun. I liked drawing the comet. It was interesting the way it took them 10 years to make the spacecraft and then it took them another 10 years to find the comet. And when I saw Deirdre come in with the comet I was like what was that but then I learned about it; that there is ice and gas in it and if it gets too close to the sun it melts. It was so fun learning about the comet and this was fun. Thank you, Deirdre.

Joshua: I thought Deirdre’s workshop yesterday was very interesting. It was a very good copy of the comet. It was great the way you showed us it and it is so big and the way you did the art with us. It was very good and when we done the pictures we did and I did not know what they were doing until you told us. I thought it was great the way they’re doing it. It is so good. Thanks for the Rosetta stickers. Hope you come back.

Alicia: I thought Deirdre’s workshop yesterday was very, very, good. Her model of the comet was very good as well. First we looked at pictures of the comet and videos of it and then we made comets. Deirdre’s work was wonderful. We answered questions from her and some people got  Rosetta stickers. After we went outside and waved our comets in the air.

Shauna: I thought Deirdre’s workshop was interesting to listen to about comets, and her speech was very professional. I loved the idea of her polystyrene comet, it was so realistic. It looked exactly like the one in the picture! Then she taught us how to make little polystyrene comets; it was so much fun! And when she left we went out in the yard and played a game with them. It was a really fun day!

Ella: I thought Deirdre’s workshop yesterday was great. She taught us all about comets. We drew a picture of the comet that ESA found. Deirdre made a model of the comet. She told us what it was made of.
